CONTOUR 2013 OPENS IN ONE MONTH
Contour 2013, the 6th Biennial of Moving Image (24.08 – 03.11), opens in exactly one month’s time. Under the title ‘Leisure, Discipline and Punishment’ the biennial will display more than forty art works by twenty-six international artists in special venues across Mechelen. The central exhibition venue will be the Municipal Museum Hof van Busleyden. You’ll also be able to see works at the football stadium of KV Mechelen, the Church of Our Lady-across-the-Dyle and the prison.
EUROPEAN PARTNERS-IN-CRIME
Contour joins forces with the Liverpool Biennial, the Ljubljana Biennial of Graphic Arts and the Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art. Within the framework of the European Culture Programme 2007-2013, the four biennials will together produce eight new works, and the creations will be presented at each partner’s biennials. Contour 2013 is first in line!
Thanks to this European collaboration, three more artists’ names have been added to the selection for Contour 2013: the French duo Louise Hervé & Chloé Maillet and the German artist Peter Wächtler.
NEED A GUIDE?
You can find your way around Contour individually or in a group with the help of the visitor’s brochure (for sale at the ticketing desk of the central exhibition space – the Hof van Busleyden).
Groups can book an enthusiastic guide via the tourist office in Mechelen. Your guide will take you on a one-and-a-half-hour tour of the exhibition space in the Hof van Busleyden.
You don’t want to book a guided tour, but still want some extra information during your visit? No problem! For the first time Contour 2013 is working with mediators. Find them in the Church of Our Lady-across-the-Dyle and the Hof van Busleyden, and they will answer your questions about the art works, the theme of the biennial, the venues and the artists.
